Meet The PN Team

Fun fact - Photo Native started out as “Super Cool Photographer,” a name that barely lasted 12 hours before we realized the tongue-in-cheek approach wasn’t coming across the way we’d hoped. But regardless, we like to joke that PN teamies Steph and Jessie have been around since the “Super Cool Photographer” days … which was really not even a day. Along the way, we’ve collected a few more names and faces to round out the team of women that today work behind the scenes to make Photo Native not only happen - but grow to be even bigger and better every year. Let’s meet the Photo Native team!

Meet Steph:

Creative Director Extraordinaire. The brilliance behind the branding, the creative vision that keeps us fresh, the most infectious smile. Not only does she lead us creatively at Photo Native, but she leads a handsome team of three sons and a husband at home. From putting on adorable puppy parties for her son, to whipping up scroll-stopping graphics, to raising chickens and remodeling her mid-century home, Steph is the backbone for so many but still somehow manages to make it all happen.

Meet Jennie:

The next team member to join us at Photo Native is Jennie, master of relationship building and hospitality, we only somewhat jokingly call her our sponsorship concierge because she does more than just coordinate our sponsor’s needs, she goes above and beyond to make sure the experience is golden for everyone involved. Jennie has been with Photo Native since year one, and has all the shirts to prove it. In addition to making the sponsorship experience incredible for our sponsors and attendees, Jennie runs her own photography business and is mother to three adorable kiddos.

Meet Rosalyn:

You know those incredible Native Shoots we drool over every year? None of those would have happened without the dedication of Rosalyn! Master of spreadsheets and organizer extraordinaire, Rosalyn manages to coordinate every single styled shoot every single year - which is no small feat. Another proud member of the “I own every PN shirt” club, Rosalyn also juggles her own photography business and motherhood. Plus, Rosalyn is a JCW’s frequent flyer, so we know she has good taste. (And if you don’t know JCW’s, it’s arguably the best burger joint in Utah and you should definitely give it a try.)

Meet Kelsee:

Photo Native’s newest addition, but no stranger to the magic that is Photo Native, Kelsee is the one responsible for onboarding all our generous sponsors as well as masterfully controlling the playlist for our team photo shoot. Mother to two adorable twin girls, Kelsee radiates positivity and is always more than willing to lend a helping hand. She’s also more than willing to share her chocolate chip cookie recipe, and trust us, it’s a good one.

Meet Jessie:

Mother of four, “retired” photographer (in quotations because she claims to have retired but can’t stop won’t stop and isn’t really mad about it), taco lover, and car-dancer (as in, if you pull up next to her at a red light, she’ll probably be dancing and doesn’t really care who’s watching), Jessie has been called the “fearless leader” of Photo Native. Truth be told, she isn’t fearless, she just does it anyway.

Photo Native 2019 Lineup Announced

Here at Photo Native, we’re more than just a super fun photography conference with high quality education to help take your art and business to the next level. We’re a community of diverse individuals who physically come together once a year to not only learn and grow but to create a welcoming, soft, and whole-hearted place of belonging. Photo Native has been and always will be about people - about YOU.

We believe that one of the most important pillars of a strong and effective community is service and that when we reach outside of ourselves to help and lift those around us, we are all strengthened in the process. This community - YOU GUYS - are so incredible, so giving and that’s why we are beyond stoked to team up with all of you as we band together to intentionally serve and give back.

“Photo Native Made Me Do It” is a 14-day challenge aimed at spreading generosity and heart to those around you. The challenge is comprised of two weeks worth of service-focused prompts with most being super simple and designed to fit into your everyday life. The experience culminates in one final challenge to donate the funds from one of your sessions to Kiva via our Venmo account. The money will go specifically to underprivileged women starting a business, going to school, leading their communities, and building strong families. Photo Native will be matching donations totaling up to $2000 and all money raised will be given to Kiva on May 1st.

As you participate in the 2-week challenge, we, of course, want to be able to follow along and see all the good and love you’re spreading in the world! Every time you post about this initiative on social media, be sure to use hashtag #photonativemademedoit so we can cheer you on and leave you some love!

“Photo Native Made Me Do It” officially starts on Monday, March 19th and ends on Sunday, April 1st. Donations to Kiva may be made to our (Samantha Kelly's) Venmo account (@Samantha-C-Kelly) at any time from March 19th-April 31. We will announce the grand total of all money raised on May 1st. During the challenge, we will be posting daily reminders on our Instagram and in our Facebook group, so join and follow along!!
